Application
The direction switch is a component of a custom-designed travel switch unit with specification number 618585. It is used to precisely control the traction and braking forces of a rail vehicle. A flexible connecting element serves as a mechanical interlock between the drive/brake switch and the direction switch within the unit to ensure safe operation.
General Description
Directional switch
The separate direction switch is mounted on the left side of the drive/brake switch unit. It features a lever for changing the direction of travel or the drive mode. In addition, a key switch is integrated to start or enable the entire switch unit. All binary signals from the switches are wired via a connector at the end of a cable harness.
Locking mechanism
A mechanical interlock system is integrated into the control unit between the directional switch handle, the key switch, and the drive/brake switch. The purpose of this mechanism is to prevent accidental operation. The interlock status of each component depends on the position of the other components.
A flexible connecting element, known as a flex bellows, is used to ensure mechanical interlocking between the separate drive/brake switch and the direction switch.
